The Danish Embassy in Islamabad is looking for a new Consular Officer

Type of employment: Full time job on a local contract

Starting date: September 1, 2017 – or as soon as possible

Deadline for application: 1. August 2017

We are a total of 30 people working at the Danish Embassy in Islamabad, whereof five are posted staff. The visa team consists of seven employees and is headed by the posted Consul. Annually we process around 2.500 requests for visas, residence/work permits and re-entry permits cases.

Main tasks and responsibilities as Consular Officer

·         Approving visa applications and residence/work permits.

·         Scrutinizing applications, documentation, checking information.

·         Interviewing applicants.

·         Handling communication between applicants, external visa application centre/s, Danish Immigration Service, Danish and Pakistani authorities etc.

·         Answering queries from applicants, references and other institutions.

·         Registering and updating new cases in the Danish visa system.

·         Handling Danish passports applications.

·         Legalization of documents.

·         Other consular cases.

·         Archiving.


·         Relevant educational background, preferably a university degree.

·         2-5 years of work experience, preferably with visa administration.

·         Excellent in English both oral and written. Command of one of the Scandinavian languages (Danish, Norwegian or Swedish) would be a strong advantage.

·         Experience with Danish management tradition and the Schengen visa cooperation is an advantage.

·         Good interpersonal skills and team player abilities as well as interest in and willingness to share knowledge with – and learn from – colleagues.

·         Strong sense of accuracy and attention to detail.

·         A structured mind-set and good planning and coordination skills.

·         A high sense of responsibility.

·         IT proficiency.

Employment conditions

·         You will be offered full time employment with a local contract based on relevant legally binding labour market rules of Pakistan.

·         Your standard working hours will be 37 hours per week with flexibility in organizing your own daily working hours.
