Passports for Under 18s

Biometric passports On 1 January 2012, Denmark introduced biometric passports. For passport applicants in Pakistan, this means that ordinary passports can now only be issued at the Danish Embassy in Islamabad. From 1 January 2012, Danish honorary consulate will no longer accept applications for ordinary passports except for children up to 12 years.

• The waiting time for an appointment is currently approx. 1 week.  
• You will need an appointment with the Embassy prior visit, to apply for a new/renew a passport. 
• If you are not able to meet your appointment please let the Embassy know so that the appointment can be given to another applicant. 
• If you require an emergency passport  because your existing passport has been lost, stolen or damaged and you are travelling before you receive your new passport, you will need to book appointment. 
• Collection of passports is between 9.00-12.00 Monday-Thursday and appointment must be booked prior to visit. Your old passport will be cancelled by the Embassy.

Please note that school holidays and the summer period are very busy and will therefore be booked up quickly. You should therefore book your appointment in good time if you wish to come to the Embassy during school holidays.

Applications must be submitted in person (regardless of age) at the Embassy.

Processing Time

Passports are issued in Denmark and take approximately 4 weeks to process, 5-6 weeks during peak periods.

Required Documents

(Please follow these guidelines and NOT the ones on page 4 of the application form). 

1. One Application Form per person - completed and signed. To download the form, please click here.
2. Current passport
3. The Embassy will take a digital photograph. However, it may prove difficult to capture a suitable digital photograph of children under 3. It is therefore advisable to bring a normal passport photograph to the Embassy, which can then be scanned: requirements for passport photos. Fingerprints are collected from the age of 12 and a digital signature from children from the age of 5.
4. The original Birth Certificate with English translation and must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (both parents' names must appear on the Certificate). 
5. Both parents must fill in and sign the consent section on page 3. If one parent has sole custody of the child, documentation to that effect must be produced, such as Danish Separation/Divorce papers or a Court Order, which must be attested by Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (If the document is in local language, there should also be English translated copy and certification from Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
   When one parent is not living in the Pakistan and therefore cannot give consent on page 3 of the application form please follow the guidelines below: a) The parent living in Denmark must go to a Borgerservice office (passport issuing office) to complete the Danish passport consent form. The Borgerservice office should then e-mail at (isbamb@um.dk) the completed form and a copy of the parent's passport (with signature page) to the Embassy in Islamabad. b) The parent living outside Pakistan or Denmark must go to a Danish Embassy/Consulate in their country of residence to give consent by filling in a consent form for the child. This should then be e-mailed (isbamb@um.dk) together with a copy of his/her passport (with signature page) to the Embassy in Pakistan. 
6. Both parents' passports for verification of signatures. 
7. Parents’ original Marriage Certificate with translation and attested by Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (if only the father is Danish). 
8. Original Certificate of Danish Nationality (if the child has obtained Danish nationality after he/she was born)
9. If the child has changed his/her name after the current passport was issued, you must produce the original documentation as proof. Please click here for further information about Change of Name.
10. Proof of legal stay in the home country, either Pakistani visa or Foreign Origin Card.   

Please note that the Embassy has the right to ask for further ID if necessary.

Please note that extensions/emergency passports are free of charge when a new passport is applied for at the same time.

Lost Passports

If the existing passport has been lost/stolen, you should also submit the following documents: 

• Police report with English translated copy (the theft should be reported to a Police Station in the locality where the passport was stolen) 
• A Declaration must be filled in at the Embassy stating the circumstances under which the passport was lost/stolen
