New entry - and travel restrictions taking effect on 21 April 2021

The implementation of the agreement takes place in four phases. A phased approach has been determined politically as it is still the assessment of Danish health authorities that new virus variants, which are imported via entry from abroad, pose a risk of controlling the epidemic in Denmark.

From 21 April 2021, entry- and travel restrictions, including travel advice of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will be updated regularly based on e.g. infection levels and entry restrictions in individual countries / regions and other relevant factors. The models with regular updates for the EU and Schengen countries and third countries, respectively, including the regional approach to travel advice for EU and Schengen countries, is reintroduced. In addition, a new ‘red’ risk assessment to take COVID-19 variants of concern into account is introduced. A number of more lenient rules for inter alia business travelers and people who own remote holiday homes in a Nordic country will enter into force.
